Dedicated home theaters are still out there, but most of the homes we work in now are opting for media rooms instead: a den or living space with a large format TV or LED panel that pulls double duty as a family room, a place to watch the game, or somewhere to catch up on work. LED video walls have taken over a lot of ground that used to belong to projectors, and they hold up better in rooms that get daylight. Golf simulators have also become a regular request. We’ve installed several for clients who wanted their own setup at home.

A lot of clients don’t want to see their speakers at all. Invisible, in wall speakers and small aperture designs, matched in size to a recessed light, have become the standard on many of our projects. Outdoor sound around patios and pool areas is another consistent request, and we build those systems to hold up to the exposure that comes with being outside on the East End.
Professional Grade Audio Equipment vs. Consumer Electronics
The equipment sold at a consumer electronics store is built for one room and doesn’t leave much room to grow. The gear we install is professional grade, distributed only to licensed contractors, and built to scale with the house. A consumer amplifier might handle two zones of sound; the professional version we install can run six zones off a single rack mounted unit, something a homeowner can’t buy on their own even if they wanted to.
